When will I get married? How marriage timing is read from a kundali

"Shaadi kab hogi?" is the most asked question in Vedic astrology. A careful reading answers it in three steps, and the answer is always a window of a few months with its reason, never a single day.

Step 1 — The promise

  • The 7th house and its lord show marriage and partnership; Venus is the significator of love and marriage (traditionally Jupiter too in a woman's chart).
  • The Navamsa (D9) confirms the promise and describes married life.
  • Saturn touching the 7th house or its lord usually shows delay, not denial: a later and often steadier marriage.

Step 2 — The dasha

  • Vimshottari dasha shows which planet is active in each period of life.
  • Marriage usually comes in the mahadasha or antardasha of the 7th lord, Venus, a planet in the 7th, the 2nd or 11th lord, or Rahu when linked to the 7th.
  • An antardasha lasts one to two years: this is the first window.

Step 3 — The double transit

  • When Jupiter and Saturn both aspect or transit the 7th house, its lord or the ascendant at the same time, the event comes close. This "double transit" was popularised by K. N. Rao.
  • Dasha plus double transit narrows the window to a few months.

Questions

Can marriage timing be predicted to the exact date?

No careful method gives an exact day. Dasha and transits give a window of a few months with a stated reason. An exact date is a red flag.

Why is my marriage getting delayed?

Common chart reasons are Saturn's influence on the 7th house or its lord, a 7th lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th house, or a dasha that does not yet support marriage. Delay usually means later, not never.

Do I need my birth time?

Yes. The ascendant changes about every two hours and decides the 7th house; a two-hour difference can move dasha dates by one to two years.

Can marriage be predicted from date of birth only?

Only partly. The date alone fixes the slow planets and roughly the Moon, so it can show broad themes. It cannot fix the ascendant, the 7th house or the dasha start dates, which decide the timing. Thousands of people share a birth date; the birth time and place are what make the timing personal.

How is a vivah muhurat chosen, for example in 2027?

Panchangs publish wedding dates for the year by tradition: the Moon in a nakshatra suited to marriage, a suitable tithi, and no Kharmas or period when Venus or Jupiter is combust. That list is the same for everyone. A careful astrologer then checks a date against both people's charts (Moon and tara strength), and a muhurat works best inside a marriage window the charts already support.
